What are the key industries to focus on for commercial awareness?

Given that there are sooo many industries out there, I was wondering what would be the key industries that would always be relevant in a commercial awareness setting i.e. it has an impact on the macro-economic view of commercial awareness?

I am so glad you asked because it is certainly an area that I struggle with. My approach has always been to follow the 3 industries that interest me the most. Furthermore, reading Watson’s Daily helps you identify trends and pick out hot topics which have an impact on the macro-economic view of commerce.
