Watson’s Daily is an invaluable source of topical information, conveyed in an insightful and user friendly way. I recommend Watson’s Daily to anyone who wants to make a start on getting to grips with commercial awareness and to all those who already have a solid grounding but appreciate that there is experience and expertise which can further enhance their perspective.

Reading Peter’s daily update over lunch means I’m not scrolling through umpteen websites to catch up on the news, and then getting side-tracked by click bait. It’s saved me over half an hour a day and his “so what” sections also help me apply my grey matter on the impact of stories as well. Outside of work, its also provided food for thought on where any pension / ISA contributions should be going. Thanks Peter

I have found using Watson’s Daily helpful in developing my commercial awareness. The combination of different products aided my understanding, such as the Daily, the Weekly, the Monthly, the Podcast, the Weekly Podcast, the Quizzes and the Yearly. All these resources combined were instrumental in building my confidence in articulating my opinions on commercial developments, which ultimately led to my offer of a training contract.

Amy Weir-Simmons

Watson’s Daily has been instrumental in helping me develop my commercial awareness and business acumen, which ultimately played a crucial role in securing my training contract at a top UK law firm. The daily insights into key business and financial news provided by Watson’s Daily allowed me to stay on top of important global developments and understand how they impact various industries. This knowledge has been crucial during interviews and assessments, where I was able to apply my commercial awareness to the legal industry and its clients.

Head of Business & Economics, A-level

We often use Watson’s Daily as a starter in my Business and/or Economics lessons. It is a succinct summary of the key financial news in a 3 page document. It saves my pupils a lot of time and the fact it covers the very latest news makes it an even more compelling read.

Head of Economics and Business A-Level

I like the fact it is a summary of a vast array of financial press in given in a timely (early morning) manner. It is the perfect length to get the key facts

A-level Economics Teacher

I use Watson’s Daily to keep me one step ahead of the current business & economics news. This is a really useful resource as a teacher in this area. It saves me time!

Head of Business & Economics, A-level

I read Watson’s Daily on my computer before I start work or at morning break. I have encouraged my pupils to also sign up and we have an ‘economics in the news’ slot timetabled in every Thursday lesson.

A-Level Economics Student

Watson’s Daily covers a vast amount of information which covers many topics in the business and economic world which is useful for my general awareness of current situations and for my studies. It is also straight to the point as key points/summary of information can be seen in bold, which is very efficient.

A-Level Economics Student

I don’t read every day, but I try to read it at least 4 times a week. That’s why I think the weekly version is great for me, as I can catch up on anything I may have missed out on

A-Level Business Studies Student

I’ve been subscribed to Watsons Daily for more than half a year now and read it regularly. I have found it invaluable in giving me real world knowledge to apply to my business studies. Furthermore I prefer Watsons Daily to reading business news on larger networks as I find their news to be watered down and difficult to pick up key points from, whereas the Daily provides condensed information that is easier to absorb.

A-Level Economics Student

I’m currently in my second year of studying my Cambridge Pre-U. Watson’s Daily helps me in many ways stated throughout the email such as; increasing my local/global business environment knowledge, giving me real world examples for my business exam questions and as a whole I believe it’s very interesting to read

A-Level Business Studies Student

The ‘So What’ feature that he includes is helpful as it allows me to see what Mr Watson thinks of the news itself and if I don’t have as much background knowledge into some of the topics it allows him to explain its importance

A-Level Economics Student

The news is very relevant and he hand-picks worldwide important topics that can be useful to the reader. His writing is precise and straight to the point

I have found the newsletter to be extremely interesting and useful. It has been a fantastic method of maintaining knowledge of important and current affairs, supplying me with the relevant informational the while saving me time of browsing these multiple papers myself. In particular I find the opinions you add to be of great help in supplying informed and experienced views, these have been of great help throughout my A levels

I read it because firstly it’s very convenient. It’s a summary of all the daily news, right in my email inbox, delivered to a high standard and easy to read format. I read it every day

Law & Politics, University student

I think Watson’s Daily is great, as it makes it really quick and easy to get the low-down on commercial news. It’s all in one place, which is really handy, and the language is usually easy to understand. I also like the light hearted stories at the end and your chatty tone

It’s really useful for getting a summary each day, saves time. It was recommended by my uni’s current affairs and commercial awareness society and it helps aid seminar discussion especially in politics modules

Cambridge University undergraduate

I love Watson’s Daily, an easy read, insightful and always manages to cover the major stories of the day. I read it because it’s an easy way to keep up with current news rather than trawling through a number of websites/newspapers to find the interesting stuff

Cambridge University undergraduate

Watson’s Daily makes a fantastic read for my commute and definitely provides a concise, simple and easy to read summary of the biggest developments of the week. Keep up the great work and I look forward to being a regular reader for a long time to come!

Law graduate

I really enjoy the informal morning informers – I like the style, tone and content and the links to go deeper into your current awareness updates. The informal tone and style draws my attention more. I also like the fact it is a short summary of the news, but more informative and engaging than the “i” Newspaper. I read it to keep up to date with global affairs, and it assists me in either revealing stories that had (until reading Watson’s Daily) passed me by or by providing me with additional information and/or insight into the topics, which can bring a greater sense of realism (and ‘how does this affect me’) to the news

Current University Law student

I really enjoy reading your newsletters. I subscribed mostly because I have no time and no interest to go through Times, Financial Times, The Economist etc.etc. but know that I need to keep up to date with the news and what’s happening around the world. Your newsletters are concise and easy to read – because of your sarcastic sense of humour. So thanks for making reading boring news (to me) more fun.

Law graduate

I think it’s a really useful tool. It helps to explain the news and also the impact that it is having. I’m very rushed and these articles allow me to keep up with some of the most important stuff of that day. I also found the yearly overview exceptionally helpful. It hugely helped me in expanding my knowledge of different countries and get a summary in my head of what has been going on and where it may lead

Law graduate

I read Watson’s Daily because I want to be able to stay up to date with the news and these news articles allow me to do that. I also think it’s interesting because you put across various opinions on things and it’s helpful to read those and decide whether I agree or have a different opinion

Senior Chartered Accountant

I like it, gives a brief overview of what’s going on with some useful insight. I like to stay abreast of what’s going on as well as opinions on these matters to help me form my own opinions!

Graduate trainee at a large investment bank

I’m a big fan of your Watson’s Daily. ***** recommended it to me when I joined my company as a grad this year. I like that you can get an idea of the day’s key stories very quickly, while still getting a nudge to consider their broader context. I tend to read it first thing in the morning alongside the FT website, Bloomberg etc. Sadly, reading it at my desk next to my colleagues means I’m usually not brave enough to explore the other news section, as intriguing as some of the captions sound…

Investment associate at a private equity company

I find Watson’s Daily a great source of information, particularly on days where I do not really have time to fully review the news myself. I would say that my favourite part of Watson’s Daily is the ‘So What’ section. It’s increasingly difficult to find relatively unbiased opinions in the ever more polar news environment, so being able to read your analysis is very useful, and often provides an interesting insight which I would not have considered

International Relations executive, NGO

Watson’s Daily is great: concise, easy to digest and a great summary of the news of the day. In 5 minutes, you have a grip of the important movings and shakings. I read it – whenever I can – in the morning when it comes in. For me, it is helpful for overall knowledge of the day’s events and backs up other sources of news in an amusing and engaging way. I read it at work as soon as it comes in because sometimes snippets are useful to be borne in mind for the day ahead work-wise

Mid-level Management Consultant

I really like Watson’s Daily and the breadth of business topics it covers (both domestically and globally). Many thanks for your ongoing hard work! In particular, I appreciate the fact that if I am in a rush you have cleverly designed it so that one can read it quickly. It allows one to get an array of news topics / details in one easy-to-read format

Freelance Medical Writer

I like Watson’s Daily – I wish someone would do something similar specifically for the health care industry (maybe they do but I haven’t seen anything written in such a reader-friendly way, with the ‘so what’ type commentary). I read it for interest. It tells me something of what’s going on in the business world that isn’t just what the BBC tells me is important!

Small business owner

Love it, well written, amusing, intelligent & interesting. Your career in finance and recruitment have given you some deep wide understanding of areas that interest me lots. I’d love to read through the tech/finance news every morning but you do the hard work for me and send me the interesting bits!

Founder of a leading investment banking headhunting firm

I like the way it is written. If there is something that piques my interest I can go and research it further and in more detail. I like the commentary – the “So What?” bit. Also, I have the utmost respect for you in getting Watson’s Daily going in the first place and I know the effort that goes in to it so I think the least I can do it read it

A-Level Business Studies Student

I have a huge amount of respect for what you do for your subscribers and understand it must be difficult to produce such a high quality news brief on a daily basis

A-Level Economics Student

It provides concise and relevant material with useful opinions, all useful in the furthering of my own knowledge and contributing as a constant source of information

It does pull together the main points very well and allows you to jump to articles by your links should you wish for further detail.  The fun bit is also a nice touch

I stumbled across your newsletter this morning after following a link from my old university. I think it’s brilliant- very informative, a little funny and containing just the right amount of information to give you the heads up of what’s going on in the world. I found it very useful
